Alexei Emelin has reportedly signed a fresh two-year deal with AK Bars Kazan. Emelin has once again opted to play at home for more money than Montreal could pay him in an entry level contract.
Emelin's contract with the KHL champions will keep the top prospect out of the Canadiens system again, and puts him at risk of being passed over on the depth chart by some younger blueline talent.
The Habs will have another crack at the 23 year old, since he was drafted before 2005, Montreal retains his rights until he turns 31.
